NOVEMBER 16th - THE YES MEN @ UnionDocs
As part of the Documentary Bodega Series, "PRAXIS!" we will be screening the YES MEN movie and the YES MEN will be visiting us for a Q&A. I have been working moderately hard on curating this evening, so I am hoping folks show up for the screening, plus the YES MEN are pretty awesome (see details below).
PS. UnionDocs in a docu-arts collaborative/non-profit organization in Williamsburg where I am currently doing a residency program.

The Yes Men: Post screening discussion with The Yes Men!
November 16 | 7 pm
Suggested Donation $8
The story follows Andy and Mike from their beginnings with GWBush.com, and on to their tasteless parody of the WTO's website. Some visitors don't notice the site is a fake, and send speaking invitations meant for the real WTO. Mike and Andy play along with the ruse and soon find themselves attending important functions as WTO representatives.
Delighted to speak for the organization they oppose, Andy and Mike don thrift-store suits and set out to shock their unwitting audiences with darkly comic satires on global free trade. Weirdly, the experts don't notice the joke and seem to agree with every terrible idea the two can come up with.
Exhausted by their failed attempts to shock, Mike and Andy take a whole new approach for one final lecture.
The Yes Men is directed by Dan Olman, Sarah Price, and Chris Smith. Their aim is: "Impersonating big-time criminals in order to publicly humiliate them. Targets are leaders and big corporations who put profits ahead of everything else."
"The Yes Men are astonishing, anarchic sights to behold." - Entertainment Weekly
The Yes Men will be at UnionDocs for post-screening discussion.
The Yes Men will screen at 7pm on Sunday, November 16 at UnionDocs on 322 Union Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. There is an $8 suggested donation.

UnionDocs Residency Program
Lindsay joins UnionDocs for a year long residency program 2008/2009.
UDR:
"The UnionDocs Residency (UDR) combines an excellent and cooperative living situation with an opportunity for immersion in independent cultural production. It’s a structure for working together, for a curatorial and creative practice that engages social and political issues. It’s an environment meant to foster both critical discussion and strong community.
Six carefully selected people are living together in this historic building at a great location and collaborating to produce a festival-quality documentary series in the first floor screening room. Led by a founding UnionDocs member, they work directly with directors and producers, bringing new films, lectures, and workshops to local audiences, and publishing original content online."
UnionDocs, Inc.:
"UnionDocs is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit documentary arts collaborative and presentation space. Currently, our primary program is The Documentary Bodega Series, featuring new and challenging documentary film and audio works every Sunday evening in our Brooklyn screening room. The series is produced by the Resident Curators of UDR, the UnionDocs Residency Program for Documentary & Media Studies. We also produce a podcast and blog, featuring short media pieces inspired by discussions at the Documentary Bodega and beyond."
